Interviews: Pete in December Q magazine (with Keane on the cover). After the Clash one, which was Pete at his most charming, this one is Pete at his most shitty. Obviously on drugs, as noted in lurid detail by the journalist, but just, you know, telling lots of stupid nasty lies. The usual stuff about how everything about the Libertines was never right in the first place, a few personal digs at Carl, and yeah, lots and lots of drugs. It's just so fucking tragic, it really made me cry.
However, this was in October, so who knows where he is now? There is such a timelag with the various music magazines. However, with the recent rush of interviews, it seems to me that Pete is still doing something. Maybe not as falling-apart as he was a few months ago. But he so clearly hasn't given up (even though he swears to every new interviewer that he has just cleaned up - and then contradicts himself as to what exactly that means) so any improvement can only be for a moment, while things are going well. He'll fall again as soon as the next thing goes wrong.
Meanwhile: I have listened to Napoleon. I like it. And the second song (From The Darkness) is really great, in a smooth adult jazz kind of a way. There, I've said it - does that make me a bad person? ;)
not a lot online at the moment, so no downloading as yet. Maybe tomorrow? |
